Need to Know This Week
Achievement Round this Saturday
If you’re comfortable shooting 40m or more, the achievement round is for you. It’s an opportunity to shoot 72 arrows at your closest comfortable distance (starting at 40m), and if you achieve the score (see below) you get a ribbon, before you move to the next distance the following month. Free for all MGAC members it’s also a great way to meet others. Be ready to shoot at 1pm on Saturday.
Achievement Scores: Barebow/Longbow 400 | Recurve 500 | Compound 600
Indoor Range Working Bees
Our new wall for the indoor range has arrived in NZ and now we need your help. We are running three working bee days and we need all hands on deck:
Saturday 28 September,1pm – vehicles and drivers needed to pick up the blocks from Attitude Archery in Hobsonville and take to the indoor range at Massey.
Friday 4 October, 5pm – helpers to demolish the existing indoor range wall
Saturday 5 October, all day – volunteers who know their way around tools to help install the new wall
Please reply to the email in your inbox and let us know which day/s you can help.
Indoor Nationals done for another year
Well done to all those who shot at the Auckland clubs indoor nationals event last weekend. There was some great shooting and fantastic scores amongst our members.
A huge thank you to Kerry Hoole who was the driving force behind this event. Kerry dedicated many hours to make this event possible, including juggling multiple roles over the weekend (as well as shooting). Our thanks too to MGAC members Angela Churchill-Azor and Clive Hudson who judged, Kate Fraser-House who DoS’d and the many other members behind the scenes who helped make it all happen.
World Archery Field Champs
Congratulations to the NZ team who competed at the WA Field Champs in Lac La Biche, Canada last week. MGAC archers Kelly Atkinson, Lily Brislen, Max Maggs, former MGAC member Emily Cavell, and team managers Janis Blake and Fleur Maggs (also MGAC members) had a fantastic time competing, meeting other archers, and enjoying all that’s part of an international premier sports event.
Lily made the top 16 in her division, with her first matchplay round against the number five ranked archer. Lily made it down to the wire, missing out by only two points.
Check out a photo medley on Facebook, and review the updates on the Archery NZ Facebook page.
Don’t let this be your last newsletter!
Almost two thirds of our members have renewed their membership for the new year. If you’re not among them, what are you waiting for? Don’t delay any longer – go to TidyHQ, and log in using the email address and password you used when you joined the club, and re-sign for the new year.
At the end of September, the current indoor range code will stop working, and members who have not re-signed will no longer receive newsletters. Don’t let this be you! Re-sign today!
