Need To Know This Week

Lac La Biche fundraising tournament this Saturday

Good luck to all archers shooting the Lac La Biche Lift-Off this Saturday morning at MGAC. All 15 lanes will be in use so there will be no space for casual shooting between 9am and 12noon.

Even if you’re not competing, come along to support the fundraising efforts by buying from the BBQ or the baked goodies. Make sure you bring cash!

Welcome new members!

If you’re one of the 16 newbies who have joined over the past month, welcome! Next time you’re at the range, introduce yourself to others on the line and we will all do our best to help you feel at home. We hope you enjoy your time at MGAC.

Congratulations Field record-breakers

Four MGAC archers travelled to Kapiti to compete in the 2024 Field Archery Nationals on 4th and 5th May.

Max Maggs placed 2nd in his division while Kelly Atkinson, Lily Brislen and Jaeda Alaalatoa-Dale all placed first in their divisions. The three MGAC women broke at least two NZ records each, with one of the records broken by Jaeda being in place since 1989!

These were all outstanding achievements for our archers who have shown they can take their skills, try something new, find joy, and experience success.

If you’re getting itchy that there’s not much on over winter, why not organise a tournament? We have excellent how-to guides on how to run a tournament and it’s easier than you think. Chat to anyone on the committee, or email me to find out more.
Remember to check Archery OSA for Archery NZ target tournaments, and NZFAA (NZ Field Archery Association) for Field events.
