Need to know This Week

Good luck for Nationals, and Easter hours

Good luck to all our archers shooting at the Archery New Zealand National Champs which start this weekend. It’s the Field Champs on Friday and Saturday at Massey Archery Club, Clout Champs on Sunday and Rongomai Park in Flat Bush, and Target champs Monday to Thursday also at Rongomai Park.

The MGAC club shoot will go ahead as normal on Saturday 1-3pm, hosted by keyholder Oscar Cao. And, because Monday is a public holiday, the range can be opened by any keyholder between 9am and 5pm. Keep an eye on the WhatsApp group for notifications of the range opening.

Remember our indoor range is open to members 24/7.

Volunteers needed for Halberg Games

The Halberg Games, a unique three-day national sports festival for young athletes with physical or visual impairments, is on at Kings College in Auckland 24 – 26 April.

MGAC’s Kerry Hoole is helping to organise the archery event and is looking for volunteer coaches and helpers from 8am – 11.30 on Friday 25 April (Anzac Day). If you can help with coaching, marshalling or simply lending a hand on the day, please contact Kerry on Stuff@hoole.co.nz

Over the castle wall – Clout Champs a huge success

A massive 53 archers (and The Badger) turned out for our club Clout Champs last Sunday at Rutherford College. Everyone from first timers to experienced clouters had a fabulous time, with many taking the opportunity to get their sight marks and practice in for Archery NZ National Championships this weekend. There were perfects and pin scores aplenty! If ever there’s a castle wall that needs invading, we know some people….

Huge thanks to Fleur Maggs for masterminding this event and all those who helped make it a success.

Indoor Range working bee – 4 May

We’re preparing for the upcoming indoors season with a working bee at our indoor range. Jobs include painting, re-marking the floors, marking the correct locations on the wall to place targets, and general tidying up.

If you’re an indoor range user please mark the date in your calendar and come to lend a hand.

More details to follow closer to the time.
