Need to know this week
Winter hours are here
The end of daylight savings means we’re now into winter hours at the outdoor range.
Wed, Thurs, Fri: 10 am – 5 pm
Weekends: 9 am – 5 pm
Mon, Tues: closed (MGAC members can shoot at Auckland Archery Club on Tuesdays under our reciprocal arrangement)
Congratulations MGAC college archers
Congratulations to all the MGAC youth archers who participated in the 6 week College Sport league, and at last Sunday’s matchplay tournament. Our club members represented schools right across the region, and took podium placings in almost every division.
Huge thank you to the coaches, managers, and supporters, and particularly to Janis and Vinny for running the barebow division at our outdoor range.
Clout Club Champs – this Sunday!
Whether you’re a clout enthusiast or a first-time clout-er, this is always a fun event, so don’t miss out. Registration is now on Archery OSA. (If you have already registered via the Google Form, you’re in – no need to register again.)
Sunday 13 April, Rutherford College, two sessions 9.30am and 1.30pm – do one or both.
Here’s a helpful guide to support your clout preparation.
Indoor Range – badminton tournament this weekend
Waitakere Badminton Centre (upstairs from the indoor range) is hosting a large tournament this weekend (11 to 13 April). Parking will be at a premium.
If you can avoid the indoor range on these days that would be ideal, but if not, please be prepared to park around the corner/across the road and walk in.
Coaching courses
Interested in coaching? Archery NZ has two courses coming up.
Development Coach May 3 and May 10 at Shore Archery Club. This is suitable for coaches working with archers progressing from beginner to a mid-level looking to participate in tournaments. The course covers elements of equipment tuning, training plans and coaching soft skills. You need to have the Foundation Coach accreditation to apply for this course. This is a two-day course.
Foundation Coach May 25 at Auckland Archery Club. This is an instructor level accreditation appropriate for club beginner courses, Have-a-go events and school camp supervision. It covers the basics of range safety and entry level coaching skills.
Use this link to register, and get in quick – these courses will fill up quickly! https://forms.gle/bfceLSki4UtN3Uco6
Indoor Range working bee – 4 May
We’re preparing for the upcoming indoors season with a working bee at our indoor range. Jobs include painting, re-marking the floors, marking the correct locations on the wall to place targets, and general tidying up.
If you’re an indoor range user please mark the date in your calendar and come to lend a hand.
More details to follow closer to the time.
