Need To Know This Week

It’s our AGM this Saturday!

We’d love to see you at our AGM – it’s a great chance to hear what the committee has achieved for your club over the past year, catch up with other members over a cuppa and some snacks, and vote for the people you want on the committee to steer the club over the year ahead. Oh, we’re also going to reveal the new MGAC CLUB SHIRT – you won’t want to miss this!

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Read the agenda here.
  • Make a nomination for an officer or committee member – you can nominate yourself or someone else, either at the AGM, or by emailing secretary@mgac.org.nz before 10am on Saturday.
  • Be at the YMCA Mt Albert (773 New North Road), mezzanine room (above the gym), at 1pm on Saturday 27 July.
  • Remember, every financial member over the age of 16 is entitled to vote either in person or via proxy.
  • If you can’t make it in person, please complete this proxy form to nominate someone else to vote on your behalf. Please complete the proxy form before 10am Saturday.
  • Remember there will be NO CLUB SHOOT on Saturday afternoon – I mean you’ll all be at the AGM, right?

Come to Quiz Night – have some fun and support our international archers

Archers are a pretty competitive bunch, so here’s a chance to show your prowess off the range, at QUIZ NIGHT!
Wednesday 31 July, Small Gods Taproom in Eden Terrace, just $20 per ticket.
Register now by clicking this link.
Help Lily Brislen and Max Maggs to get to the World Field Champs in Canada this September by coming along to Quiz Night.
You won’t regret it (not like that shot you know you should have come down for but didn’t…)

Indoor Nationals

Last week Archery NZ announced this year’s Indoor Nationals will be a multi-venue event on 21/22 September. It will be hosted by individual clubs and will comprise two WA18m rounds (2x 60 arrows). Results will be collated by Archery NZ with medals and trophies awarded at the 2025 Outdoor Nationals.

The new MGAC Committee (once voted at this weekend’s AGM) will have this event high on their agenda. We will definitely need volunteers to run this for our club, so if you can lend a hand, please reply to this email.  In the meantime, save the date!

Barebow Essentials #2, 28 July

Kerry Hoole is running a barebow tuning course for archers over the age of 14 who have been shooting for more than six months.  The session will cover limb alignment, tiller setting, rest adjustment, and more, for just $25 for MGAC members, $30 for other clubs. See Archery OSA for more details and to register. Please note this is not a beginners course.
