Need to Know This Week

Tournament Time – Lac La Biche Lift-Off!

We’re running a tournament on Saturday 8 June as a fundraiser for MGAC members Lily Brislen, Max Maggs, and Kelly Atkinson who have been selected for the World Field Champs later this year in Canada. Woop woop! See all the details in the flyer here (summary: 18m outdoors shoot, open to all age groups). Sign up on Archery OSA.

If the tournament’s not for you but you’d still like to offer support, head along to the Givealittle pages:

It’s Achievement Round this Saturday

Free for any MGAC member, the Achievement Round is ideal for those who have completed their Gold Arrow in BAP, or are comfortable shooting at 40m or more. It’s 72 arrows (12 ends of 6 arrows) and you start at your closest comfortable distance. Once you’ve met the achievement score (see below), you can progress to the next distance the following month. Ribbons are free to MGAC members once you meet the achievement score. It’s also a great way to meet other members so come along!

Distances shot:  40m, 50m, 60m, 70m, 80m, 90m
Target Face: Barebow/Longbow/Recurve 122cm
Compound: 80cm @ 40/50m, 122cm @ 60/70/80/90m
Achievement Scores:  Barebow/Longbow 400 | Recurve 500 | Compound 600

If you’re getting itchy that there’s not much on over winter, why not organise a tournament? We have excellent how-to guides on how to run a tournament and it’s easier than you think. Chat to anyone on the committee, or email me to find out more.

Remember to keep an eye on Archery OSA for Archery NZ target tournaments, and NZFAA (NZ Field Archery Association) for Field events.

Have fun and safe shooting
