Need To Know This Week

Tournment at the outdoor range this weekend
This weekend we are hosting the Auckland District Archery Association (ADAA) Target Champs at our club. This will run both Saturday and Sunday which means no club shoot and the outdoor range will not be available for casual shooting.

Good luck to all those competing.

Outdoor range is available on Monday 27 January
Thanks to Auckland Anniversary weekend, keyholders are able to open the range this Monday between 10am and 7pm. Keep an eye on the WhatsApp group for notifications of the range opening.

And, remember our indoor range is available 24×7.

Reminder: earthworks around the outdoor range
The contractors are now underway with earthworks to repair the damage to the maunga caused during the Auckland Anniversary Day floods in 2023.

If you are using the range on a weekday before 5pm please remember to:

  • organise your shooting lanes so that at all times you are minimising risks to contractors, and remain aware of their movements.
  • avoid shooting in lanes 1 and 2. If the range is full, these lanes may be used but only to shoot distances less than 50m.
  • be extra-vigilant about walkers and dogs approaching from the right side of the range.
  • remember you will not be able to access road around the maunga, or the small carpark.

If you are using the range on weekdays after 5pm or any time on the weekend, your access to the outdoor range and use of safety signs should be unaffected.

If you need vehicle access to the small carpark during weekdays for mobility purposes, please let us know well ahead of time as we will need to organise this in advance with the contractor team. Email secretary@mgac.org.nz or talk to any committee member.

College Sport practice on Wednesday afternoons

Mountain Green youth archers planning on competing in this year’s CollegeSport competition are welcome to join Jan Lees for practice each Wednesday for the next few weeks. Please arrive at 3.30pm to set up and be ready to start shooting by 4pm, finishing no later than 5.30pm. Make sure you’re wearing sunblock, have a full water bottle, and bring a hat and/or sunglasses.
