Volunteer BADGER needed!

The Badger is seeking a substitute to attend Indoor Nationals in August and carry out some exciting badgering duties!

Are you heading down to Palmy for the event, and will have some free time on the Sunday morning and after the prizegiving?

No experience needed – and the badges will already be there.

An exciting new 600 indoor badge is being launched at the event, so its crucial that someone be there to do this.

If available, please email Fleur at pinsandbadges@archery.org.nz to find out more. She will be super grateful!

Upcoming: ADAA Indoor Champs

The ADAA Indoor Champs will be held at the MGAC Indoor Range over the weekend of August 1st and 2nd. There will be four weekend sessions available – please choose just one to allow everybody to enter!

This will be a big event as it combines the Archery NZ and NZFAA clubs in the Auckland District, with some modified rules. Please carefully select your relevant division, as the options won’t be what you’re used to!

Sign up here and find the modified rules here.

Coaching course spots available

Three coaching course dates have been set to allow those keen to get coaching in the Auckland district to have an oppotunity to get trained up.

These fill up fast, so get signed up ASAP if you’re keen. Link below:

The three courses address different levels of coaching:

The Advanced Range Captain course covers safety requirements, appropriate for have-a-go scenarios. This will be held on July 18 at MGAC. $15 for Archery NZ members.

The Foundation Course will be held at Shore Archery Club on 29 August. This is for people who are keen to learn more about archery coaching, help out with club beginners coaching and get archers from raw beginners to intermediate level. Anyone aged 16 years of age or older can undertake the course. Applicants do not need to be a member of Archery New Zealand. $20 for ANZ members. This is the most appropriate option for our club members wishing to get into coaching!

Development Coaching is for ANZ coaches who have coached for more than 2 years at a Foundation level, and want to further their skills, getting archers through intermediate to national level. Candidates must be 18 years or older and a member of ANZ and hold a Foundation Coach certificate. This is tentatively set for September 20. $50 for ANZ members.

If you sign up, please feel free to also email coaching@mgac.org.nz to express your interest in getting into coaching. MGAC is always in need of more coaches to assist on Beginners’ Courses, Group Events, Youth Programmes, etc. and this is a great way for new coaches to get some mentoring and learn the ropes.

Blind Sport NZ – Emerging Athlete Weekend

Blind Sport NZ is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for our upcoming Emerging Athlete Weekend, taking place in Ōtautahi Christchurch from 21–23 August.

Open to people aged 13 and over with a vision impairment, this weekend offers an opportunity to take part in sport testing, as well as access classification and information sessions.

It’s a welcoming space to build confidence, connect with others, and explore your pathway goals in sport.

Fill in your EOI here, due July 20.
