Our outdoor range is powered by the sun! Anytime the range is open, we should have the solar panels out to ensure our system has plenty of energy.

The solar panel and its cable are fully waterproof. Please put it out in all types of weather, except heavy rain (we don’t get a lot of solar power from a rainy sky).

The fabric case is NOT waterproof. If there is wet weather, please put the case indoors.

Putting out the panel

The panel has a square flat case with a handle. Cables come out of the case near the handle. It’s easy to pick up the case and carry it outside. Be sure the cable is loose with length available to follow you.

When you reach a sunny spot, unzip the case. The panel has four sections folded in on each other.

It’s easiest to work with the panel when standing behind it. From this spot, you will see the cables coming out of the left side of the panel. Point the front of the panel toward the sun (usually toward the clubroom, or close by).

Unfold the panel’s four sections. The top of the panel has three “hinges” that hold the rear kickstands. Be sure these hinges are at the top.

Working from the left side, pull out the two leftmost kickstands so the panel stands up on its own. Move to the rightmost part of the panel and pull out its kickstand.

That’s it! Cables all stay connected. Place the fabric case over the cable join closest to the panel (so people don’t trip over it). Double-check that the long yellow and black cable is plugged into the back of the battery – it should remain plugged in at all times.

When the panel is connected correctly, a number will show in the upper right of the battery display screen. This can be between 0 and 220 watts and will vary with the time of day and amount of shade.

If the shade moves to cover the panel, pick it up and move it to a new location on the grass. Pull out the kickstands again. That’s it!

Putting the panel away

Lay the panel flat on the ground. Standing behind it (away from the clubroom), fold the rightmost side in three times. (Fold the panel up like a spiral, not like a W).

Place the fabric case open on the ground, and put the folded panel on top of it, making sure that the cables are aligned with the case handle. Zip both sides of the case.

Carry the case into the clubroom and set it near the battery, but out of the way of the bow stringer and bow press!

Wind up the yellow-and-black cable so it is neatly out of the way, and place it near the panel, but out of the way of the bow stringer and bow press.

That’s it!
