Safety Reminder | No Headphones or Earplugs While Shooting
A reminder to all members that headphones, earplugs, and noise-cancelling devices are strictly prohibited while shooting. This is a serious health and safety breach under the Club’s safety rules and policy.
It’s imperative that every archer can clearly hear range commands and safety calls at all times.
Background music on a small speaker is fine if left on the safety line, but please keep the volume low and be considerate of others; a quick check that everyone’s okay with it never hurts.
Poundage Scales and Judges Ring
Need to check your bow weight?
Poundage Scales are now available for members to use.
Outdoor Range: Find it in the armoury cupboard. Please ask a coach to unlock it for you.
Indoor Range: Find it on top of the target face drawers.
Do you need to check your bow will pass inspection?
Red Rings are now available to simulate the Judges’ ring,
These are especially useful for Barebow archers wanting to check their gear. The ring has a diameter of 122 mm, which is the official size used to ensure Barebow equipment passes part of the inspection.
Outdoor Range: Find them hanging on the clibboard on top of the signing in table.
Please handle all equipment with care and return it after use so everyone can access it.
Ryan, Fraser and Hamilton Shields
The Ryan, Fraser, and Hamilton Shields are coming around again, and we are seeking recurvers, compounders, and barebowers/longbowers to shoot these events!
Please email nuala@mgac.org.nz if you are interested in representing the club in this “postal-style” event. Recurvers and compounders shoot at 46m, while the Hamilton Shield is shot at 35m. These events are shot in teams, which must be named before the shoot begins, so we will need to schedule times that suit before the end of November.
Thanks!
Indoor Range CLOSED on Tuesday 28 October | St Jude Scouts
Please note that the indoor range will be closed on Tuesday 28 October from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm for the St Jude Scouts session. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The range will reopen for regular use after 9:00 pm.
Solar Panels Installation | Call for Helpers
We’re looking for a few helping hands to install a couple of solar panels on the side of the outdoor clubroom. This is the last step before we can introduce electronic check-in at the outdoor range, so your help will make a real difference!
If you’ve got some DIY skills, electrical know-how, or just enthusiasm to lend a hand, please get in touch. Every bit of help counts to get this project over the line.
If you’re interested or want to learn more, reach out directly to Kelly at kelly@mgac.org.nz.
