Need to know this week
Congratulations MGAC international reps!
We are very proud of the three MGAC archers who have been selected to represent New Zealand in Singapore in Leg 2 of the Asia Cup. Congraulations to compounder Lorne Roodt, and recurvers Nuala Edmundson and Isabella Matthews, who will be joined by Finn Matheson (Auckland) and Julia Harrison (Grey Goose Christchurch), along with team coach Iain Hamilton (Wairarapa). The tournament is 15 – 20 June 2025. We’ll be right behind you all the way team!
Term One Tertiary League
The Tertiary League for Term 1 is available to shoot any time between now and 13th April. The schedule is up on the wall in the clubhouse and the scoresheets in the drawer on the sign-in desk. The Young Adult line is shooting this round on Sunday at 1pm, if there are any archers who want to join us. The more, the merrier!
Hosting Pacific archers at Mountain Green
By Nuala Edmundson
Last Thursday, Mountain Green were honoured to host some international archers training for their World Games CQT. The team from Tahiti and one Aussie archer came to shoot at our lovely range. It was so great to help them out getting acclimatised to shooting in Aotearoa ahead of the weekend’s tournament, and fantastic to pass on the hospitality I have received when shooting overseas, and give back to the archery community. I had met the Tahitians at the Pacific Games in 2023, so it was awesome to reconnect with them, and to get to know an Australian archer making his international debut. Connecting with, and supporting, archers from around the Pacific and the world is one of the greatest things about our small sport!
Congratulations MGAC record holders!
This week I was thrilled to receive an envelope in my letterbox, bulging with certificates for MGAC archers who have broken Archery NZ records this year. Congratulations to:
Jacob Schaffer who has broken 8 records
Kinsey Cropper, for 4 records
Isabella Matthews, for 2 records
and Alex Whittet, Jinming Song, Mikey Fraser-House, and Kelly Atkinson who each broke 1 record.
Your certificates will be in the clubhouse for collection this weekend.
