Thank you to the members who attended this afternoon’s annual general meeting (AGM) at the Fickling Centre. 18 of our 186 voting members made time to attend – thank you very much for giving your time to attend the meeting.
Club Officer Reports
Reports were distributed prior to the meeting and these were accepted. They highlighted the massive achievements of members this year, the challenges, and the view of the future. David Edmundson presented a detailed and positive report about our outdoor range relocation progress. Thank you very much to David for making this complex subject clear.
Committee Elections
Congratulations to the members elected to our club committee – the group that takes responsibility for the club’s decisions: Bevan Weir, David Edmundson, Geoff Sauvarin, Kate Fraser-House, Kelly Atkinson, Nuala Edmundson, Tom Matthews. This is the first year in recent memory that an entire committee has re-stood for election. Thank you all.
Service Awards
This year we initiated MGAC Service Awards to recognise extraordinary contributions to the club. These include a certificate, gift, and a remit of the cost of the member’s 2026-2027 membership renewal to show the club’s appreciation. Congratulations to the following 2026 Service Award recipients:
Clive Hudson – Clive contributed significantly to Mountain Green Archery Club since his son joined in 2011. Initially a parent on the youth line, travelling to tournaments, he soon got involved in the club committee, serving as Treasurer from 2019 until 2021. He also serves MGAC and the broader archery community around the Pacific as a trained DoS and Judge, and continues to serve as MGAC’s tournaments coordinator, managing OSA pages and tournament payments. He has also supported MGAC members within New Zealand teams, as the team manager. We are thrilled to have him as part of our club community.
Jan Lees – Jan is most well-known for her commitment to MGAC’s youth programmes over the past decade, as well as our club’s BAP programme, which she collaborated in developing. She has been coaching on some form of our youth programme since 2012, and in 2019, she established the MAGS archery team, contributing to huge club success and the growth and recognition of the sport at our local high school. Since stepping down from that programme, she has developed the new Waiporoporo Young Adults programme, which serves a recognised gap in sports involvement – the moment when athletes leave school. To this end she also serves the wider archery community in Aotearoa, through her involvement in the Archery NZ Membership and Development Subcommittee, and her development and management of the postal tertiary league. She is one of only two Performance coaches at MGAC, and participates in a Sport NZ Coaching Programmes to further her skills. She has also represented Aotearoa as a team coach, served as MGAC webmaster and occasionally picks up a bow herself – when she has the time!
Kelly Atkinson – A member of MGAC since 2016 and has been actively involved in the governance of our club since 2017, including initially as Club Secretary, and then President for five years, and Past President for two years. She manages many of our administrative responsibilities, is responsible for many of our club’s developments over the years, and is the brains behind our IT systems, as well as many of Archery NZ’s. She has devoted significant hours towards our club lease and club constitution, and has been active in building strong relationships between our club and other archery organisations. She has also competed at a high level, including representing NZ in world field championships through Archery NZ and the NZFAA, and regularly winning medals at our National Championships
In Summary
Please know that club members always have a voice in how the club runs. The AGM is one of the most visible and important times when your voice can be heard. For the other 364 days in our membership year, don’t hesitate to contact a committee member or another club volunteer anytime to ensure your views are known.
Thank you to all our members for your support. Members make our club what it is! Keep shooting and enjoying our beautiful ranges as you further your archery.
