Need to know

Winner winner!  Congratulations to all of our members who have done us all proud at recent events:

  • The Winter Aim secondary school tournament at Auckland Archery Club, with a number of MGAC archers competing and finishing well.
  • The recent National Indoor Championships in Palmerston North, where MGAC archers walked away with 16 Gold, 11 Silver and 15 Bronze medals – see full results online

Team NZ at the World Youth Championships in Winnipeg

Congrats on a superb performance from Hector McNeilly, who brought home a stunning silver medal in his individual event; and a huge shoutout to Phoebe Newcombe who despite the challenges of her delayed bow case, wind and all the stress and pressure that come with them, displayed outstanding sportsmanship and good vibes on the international stage. Finally to the U18 Compound Mixed Team who finished ranked in the top 8 in the world – ka pai team!

You’ve done Aotearoa and MGAC proud!

Trans Tasman Team Training at MGAC this Saturday 30 August
The 37 archers and 5 officials of the Trans Tasman Team 2025 are very grateful to be able to hold one of the days of their training camp at MGAC on 30 August!

On Saturday, from 10am-1pm, they will be using 13 lanes and the timing lights, and from 1-5pm they will be using 6 lanes and the timing lights set to matchplay timing. Huge thanks to MGAC casual Saturday archers and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

District Doubles FUN event 27 September at Shore

Are you a husband and wife that shoot together? Parent and child? Siblings? Best friends?
Do you think you have what it takes to beat other pairs in the district? Are you prepared to work together to win the coveted District Doubles trophy?

Come along to Shore Archery Club, 9 Argus Place, on Saturday 27 September from 9am-4pm with your parent/partner/buddy and shoot for the trophy. To level the playing field, Auckland District will help by providing bows and arrows – beginner’s wooden and plastic recurves (no sights) will be used. If you have your own wooden or plastic recurve or longbow you’d like to bring along, let us know. You will be required to take the sight off. Bring your own armguards/finger-tabs if you have them, otherwise it will be provided for you.

$20 per team, with registration via the entry form.

Youth Interclub League

Congratulations to our July badge winners: Peter Yeh, Phoebe Newcombe andCoco Zhou! For details, please refer to the Archery NZ website.

New Committee Member

Thank you to David Edmundson who joins the Committee in addition to being our amazing Coaching Coordinator. David is leading the charge on our discussions with Auckland Council about new land (see below). Thanks for volunteering even more of your time to help the club thrive.

The Search for a New Range

Thank you to all the members who have made suggestions about possible new land. Unfortunately, it turns out that many of the suggestions are places that Council cannot make available for our use, or they are too small or otherwise not a good match. We do have a few great leads with a lot of potential and more discussions with Council are underway.

Love details? Help our Constitution Group

Within the next few months, we need to update our Constitution to include new Incorporated Societies requirements. The new Constitution will be circulated for your feedback and then needs two Special General Meetings to approve it. Kelly Atkinson is leading a working group to get this done before the end of the year. If you have a keen eye for detail then your help would be most appreciated – please reply and we will connect you together.

Don’t forget to renew your membership

Most memberships expire at the end of this month, so be sure to renew now to keep enjoying access to our Indoor and Outdoor Ranges.

Finding information about the ranges

You can always find out what’s going on at our ranges by checking the calendar at the bottom of our website homepage (and you can even subscribe to it so it flows through to your own calendar).
