Need To Know This Week

Achievement Round on Saturday

It’s Achievement Round this Saturday – an ideal opportunity for those who have completed their Gold Arrow in BAP, or are comfortable shooting at 40m or more. It’s 12 ends of 6 arrows each, starting at your closest comfortable distance. Once you’ve met the achievement score (see below), you can progress to the next distance the following month. Free ribbons to members who meet the score, and it’s also a great way to meet other members!

Distances shot:  40m, 50m, 60m, 70m, 80m, 90m
Target Face: Barebow/Longbow/Recurve 122cm | Compound 80cm
Achievement Scores: Barebow/Longbow 400 | Recurve 500 | Compound 600

Outdoor Working Bee

Come and lend a hand at our working bee on Saturday 9 November from 11am. There’s lots of jobs for helpers of all abilities – from target maintenance, to clubhouse tidying, to groundswork.

Many hands will make light work – we look forward to seeing you there.

Guy Fawkes Closures

As part of the Tūpuna Maunga Authority’s ongoing commitment to protect Auckland’s ancestral mountains, all Maunga will be closed between 6.00 pm and 7.00 am from Saturday 2 November to Tuesday 5 November, during Guy Fawkes.

These closures help safeguard the native flora and fauna, which can take years to recover from fire damage. Preserving these taonga and the mauri (life force) of the Maunga is very important.

Although this will not affect our access to the range during our permitted shooting times, it’s important we are all aware of what’s happening on the Maunga.

Slip Remediation

The Tūpuna Maunga Authority has advised works will be starting in early November (subject to resource consents) to fix the large slip which occurred between the Maunga and Toroa Road during the 2023 Auckland Anniversary Day floods.

The road around the maunga to the tihi (summit) will be closed while the works are underway, which are expected to take up to 8 months.

We are in discussions with the TMA about continuing access to the small carpark at the end of the range which is essential for some of our archers and during tournaments. When we have more details we will let you know.
